Exalt Unveils Products that Establish New Benchmark of 6 Gigabits per Second to Backhaul Exploding Mobile Broadband Network Traffic

Mobile World Congress 2013, BARCELONA, Spain and CAMPBELL, Calif. — February 25, 2013 — Exalt Communications, the leading innovator of next-generation packet microwave backhaul systems, today announced ExploreAir LR all-outdoor, high capacity radios, with NodeX™, a multicarrier, low-loss RF combiner that supports up to 8+0 in dual polarization using a single antenna. When combined with four ExploreAir® LR radios, the system delivers the industry’s highest capacity packet microwave link at 6 gigabits per second. ExploreAir LR and NodeX are on display at Exalt’s stand 7C34 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from February 25-28, 2013.
According to Infonetics Research, the macrocell mobile backhaul equipment market is forecast to grow to $9.7 billion by 2016 with 54 percent of this from packet-capable microwave equipment as mobile operators upgrade their backhaul capacity to keep pace with the growth in 4G LTE mobile broadband subscribers, devices and traffic.

Engineered as the industry’s first all-outdoor RF combiner, the NodeX is a completely passive device that features a hardened design for outdoor deployment with an emphasis on easy installation. Each NodeX can support up to four ExploreAir LR radios with the ability to support two NodeX combiners using the dual polarization of a single antenna resulting in 6 Gbps of aggregate capacity. The NodeX combiner uses a very low loss combining technique that enables Exalts all-outdoor radio platforms to maintain their exceptional system gain advantage, resulting in longer paths with smaller antennas.
