Starting at under US$18,000 per link, ExtremeAir™ all-outdoor licensed band systems include the highest capacity radios in the ExtremeAir lineup, delivering higher per channel throughput over greater distance than any radio in the world, providing far greater deployment flexibility than millimeter wave systems and far faster time-to-market than fiber. ExtremeAir all-outdoor licensed systems offer:

  • Up to 1000 Mbps full-duplex guaranteed Layer 2 throughput - the world's highest single channel capacity available in sub-60 GHz bands
  • Hitless and jitterless adaptive modulation, fully configurable from QPSK to 256QAM
  • Built-in XPIC, enabling dual-carrier, single channel operation with a single antenna

ExtremeAir all-outdoor radios are currently available in the ANSI/FCC 11, 18 and 23 GHz bands. For immediate or future requirements in other bands, including LMDS and DEMS, please contact Exalt.

ExtremeAir systems support QPSK to 256QAM modulation in channel bandwidths of 30 to 80 MHz (FCC) and 14 to 56 MHz (ETSI). Three interface configurations are initially available to meet a wide range of deployment, application and migration scenarios:

  • ExtremeAir rcXX200 models: 1x10/100/1000BaseT (PoE)
  • ExtremeAir rcXX205 models: 1x10/100/1000BaseT (PoE) + 3x10/100/1000BaseT
  • ExtremeAir rcXX110 models: 1x10/100/1000BaseT (PoE) + 4xT1/E1

Like all Exalt radio systems, ExtremeAir all-outdoor radios are fully software defined and software configurable, easily scaling their capacity and dynamically allocating traffic between Ethernet and TDM (XX110 models). License key upgrades are used to augment base Ethernet capacity of 400 Mbps to 600, 800 or 1000 Mbps and to enable TDM interfaces and other optional capabilities. ExtremeAir All-Outdoor Licensed System Applications
ExtremeAir is designed to serve a wide range of Ethernet/IP and TDM applications, including:

  • Mobile backhaul. The ExtremeAir all-outdoor licensed systems are ideal for backhaul aggregation nodes and high speed rings in LTE networks. The zero footprint, single mounting point design minimizes site capital and lease costs. As the only radio in the category that transports TDM natively (no protocol conversion required), ExtremeAir can simultaneously support the latency requirements of 2G voice traffic and the growing capacity requirements from 3G and 4G data traffic.
  • IP backhaul. As service providers and private network operators build, grow and re-architect their networks to accommodate greater volumes of data traffic, ExtremeAir is the most cost-effective means available of rapidly delivering the gigabit Ethernet capacities now often required ring, aggregation and backbone sites. ExtremeAir's zero footprint form factor minimizes site costs, while upgradeable capacity provides pay-as-you-grow CAPEX deferral.
  • Fiber extension. Many enterprise campus and critical infrastructure networks require fiber speed connectivity. Point-to-point ExtremeAir links deliver fiber performance using a familiar all-outdoor form factor and can be deployed far more inexpensively and rapidly than fiber. Support for native TDM ensures toll-quality voice while QoS, VLAN and rate limiting allow network policies to easily extend across the link, while ensuring the quality of latency-sensitive applications such as VoIP and video.
