The Monitored Hot Standby (MHS) kit for the EX-2.4i-16 is one element of Exalt’s CarrierTDD feature set. With the MHS kit, enterprises and carriers alike can implement the type of highly fault tolerant radio system deployments that were previously only possible in licensed band systems.
The Exalt MHS implementation provides full hardware redundancy and automatic radio protection with fast switchover. Once properly interconnected and configured, the primary and secondary radio terminals constantly monitor and communicate fault status. If the primary terminal experiences a hard failure or traffic-affecting fault condition, all TDM and Ethernet traffic will transfer to the secondary radio terminal.
MHS implementation requires a second radio terminal and a basic MHS kit (shown in the photo below). Expansion kits are also available to enable TDM circuit protection up to the full 16xT1 capacity of the radio.
